Delve into the spiritual heart of the Known World. Learn about its diverse religions, deities, and the beliefs that influence every story and character in Empire of Ice. Religiones y deidades Engrenism 1 2 3 4 5 1 ... 1 2 3 4 5 6 ... 6 Rooted in the ancient faith of Melona, Engrenism venerates the spirit of Allornon—the legendary Daughter of the Evergreen. Allornon embodies the eternal dance of endurance, wisdom, and the ceaseless cycle of renewal, her presence woven through every verdant bough and winter’s hush alike. For Engrenists, devotion is an act of honoring the resilience of life and the wisdom that emerges from each turning season. Among the people of Melona, Engrenist traditions often intertwine with Monseccian spirit veneration or the ancestral rites of Odirinism, creating a living tapestry of belief that is as enduring and ever-changing as the forests themselves. Deidad Allornon Seguidores estimados: 1625000 Principios fundamentales: Acceptance of Destiny and its Wisdom, Faithful Stewardship of The Land and Fae, Reverence for the Cycles of Nature and The Cosmos, Embracing Endurance as the path to Enlightenment, Celebrating Renewal and Transformation in All Forms Lugares de práctica: Importancia histórica: Engrenism is not merely a faith, but the living root of Melonian identity. Its influence branches through every aspect of Melonian life: shaping the rhythms of governance, inspiring generations of artists and poets, and guiding the stewardship of forests and fields. For centuries, Engrenist rites have marked the turning of seasons, legitimized rulers, and sanctified the bond between people and land. Its symbols and stories are etched into Melona’s oldest stones and whispered through its evergreen groves—a spiritual legacy as enduring as the forests themselves. Facciones relacionadas: The Everlight Arrows, Engrinist Zealots The Everlight Arrows : Though Melona’s standing army is modest—its defenses largely subsumed by the Vulsrian garrison in the wake of Roustan aggression—the realm’s sovereignty is fiercely guarded by the Everlight Arrows. This elite cadre answers only to the Melonian crown, serving as royal protectors, scouts, and silent enforcers of the old ways. Forged in hardship and secrecy, the Everlight Arrows are masters of the bow and dagger, blending the hunter’s patience with the assassin’s precision. They train beneath the shadowed boughs of ancient forests, drawing strength from Engrenist rites and the spirits of the land. Cloaked in shades of green and silver, they move unseen along the Emerald Coast and through Melona’s wild heart—guardians of both the royal bloodline and the spirit of the nation. Legends claim that each Arrow swears a sacred oath before a living pine, binding their fate to Melona’s endurance and the cycle of renewal. In times of crisis, they are the unseen hand: defending villages, sabotaging Roustan dredges, and quelling threats that would fracture Melonian unity from within or without. The Engrenist Zealots : The Engrenist Zealots emerged from the crucible of religious conflict, their roots entwined with Melona’s struggle for spiritual sovereignty. Decades ago, as Vulsrian missionaries swept across Melona, spreading the doctrines of Odirinism and the worship of the Fourteen Gods, the Melonian crown—seeking peace and diplomacy—prepared to sanction the construction of an Odirian church on Melonian soil. But not all Melonians were willing to yield their sacred ground. A wave of protest swept through the community, led by a charismatic druid whose name endures in legend. The resistance culminated in a night of fire and blood, as protestors torched the half-built church. The violence claimed both Melonian and Vulsrian lives, leaving scars that would shape the nation for generations. To avert all-out war, the Melonian crown surrendered a parcel of land to Vulsria—a bitter compromise that staved off invasion but sowed seeds of resentment. In the ashes of the burned church, the Engrenist Zealots erected their own sanctuary: a vast cathedral, now the beating heart of radical Engrenism. Today, this cathedral stands as both a place of worship and a fortress of ideology. Thousands of Melonians gather beneath its soaring arches to honor Allornon and seek guidance in turbulent times. At its helm, the formidable Archdruid Eohgan presides—rallying his followers, shaping doctrine, and orchestrating the Zealots’ campaign to defend Melonian faith and identity against all perceived threats, within and beyond their borders. Conflictos: Internal Schisms: Despite its deep roots, Engrenism is far from monolithic. In recent generations, internal rifts have grown—most notably with the rise of the Engrenist Zealots. Led by the formidable Archdruid Eohgan, this radical sect seeks to purify the faith and assert spiritual authority over Melona’s rulers. Their fervor often brings them into direct conflict with the more moderate clergy and the Melonian crown, whose leaders must navigate a delicate balance between tradition and progress. Cultural Pressures: Beyond Melona’s borders, Engrenism faces persistent challenges from Vulsrian Odirinists. As Odirinist influence spreads, Melonian communities along the frontier grapple with cultural assimilation, syncretism, and the fear of losing ancestral rites. These tensions spark debates over identity, belonging, and the true path of devotion—fueling both creative exchange and bitter dispute. External Threats and Environmental Strife: The Melonian reverence for land and sea stands in stark contrast to the practices of their Roustan neighbors from Roustachia. For years, Roustan dredging fleets have haunted the coastal borders, harvesting minerals and leaving devastated ocean ecosystems in their wake. The scars of their industry run deep—disrupting sacred breeding grounds, silencing ancient kelp forests, and endangering species revered in Engrenist lore. This relentless exploitation has become a rallying cry for the Engrenist Zealots, who view the Roustans’ actions as sacrilege against Allornon and the natural order. Tensions flare along the coast, with Zealot-led protests, clandestine acts of sabotage, and impassioned pleas to the Melonian crown for decisive action. For many Melonians, the Roustan disregard for nature is not simply a political affront, but a spiritual wound—one that threatens the very soul of their homeland. The Emerald Coast: Sacred Ground and Wounded Memory: The Emerald Coast, a stretch of Melonian shoreline famed for its black sands, glittering emerald dust, and crystalline springs, has long been a symbol of natural beauty and spiritual significance. Its fertile waters and mineral-rich beaches once sustained generations of Melonian fishermen and druids, who tended the land with reverence and ritual. A century ago, this sanctuary was shattered. Roustan raiders, driven by greed for the coast’s hidden wealth, swept in from Roustachia—massacring a peaceful fishing settlement and slaying a revered druid whose memory is still honored in Engrenist rites. Though the village has since been rebuilt, the trauma endures: Roustan dredgers still haunt the horizon, their ships a grim reminder of past violence and ongoing threat. In the aftermath, the Vulsrian Army—answering Melona’s desperate call—drove back the invaders and established a garrison along the Emerald Coast. Their presence brought a fragile sense of security, but at a steep price: in exchange for protection, the Vulsrians claim 65% of the region’s harvests, leaving many Melonians in hardship. This uneasy alliance fuels deep divisions. The Engrenist Zealots, already embittered by foreign desecration, now denounce the Vulsrians as oppressors—naming them enemies alongside the Roustans. Yet the Melonian crown, wary of renewed Roustan aggression, permits the Vulsrian garrison to remain, prioritizing survival over pride. In the shadow of the Emerald Coast’s emerald sands, faith, politics, and memory entwine—each tide bringing fresh questions of loyalty, justice, and the true cost of peace. Artefactos y reliquias 1. Pine Cones of Remembrance Simple yet potent, pine cones are gathered from ancient groves and kept in Melonian homes as tokens of protection and memory. During seasonal rites, families offer their oldest pine cone to the forest, symbolizing the release of old burdens and the welcoming of renewal. 2. Carved Wooden Idols of Allornon Hand-carved from evergreen wood, these idols depict Allornon in various forms—sometimes as a maiden entwined with pine boughs, other times as a wise matron crowned with cones and needles. Passed down through generations, each idol is believed to hold a fragment of ancestral wisdom and is placed on household altars or carried during pilgrimages. 3. Sacred Sap Vessels Exquisitely crafted from glass or polished stone, these vessels contain pine sap collected in sacred ceremonies. The sap is used to anoint idols, bless newborns, or seal vows. Some vessels are etched with mythic scenes, while others are plain, their simplicity reflecting the purity of intention. 4. The Song of Pines (Oral Scripture) More than a single chant, the Song of Pines is a living oral tradition—a collection of hymns, poems, and parables passed from elder to youth beneath the boughs of sacred trees. Reciting the Song is both a rite and an act of devotion, believed to invite Allornon’s presence and wisdom into the heart of the listener. Rituales y prácticas: Planting Ceremonies & Pine Sap Offerings: Followers honor Allornon and the evergreen spirit by planting saplings during key seasonal transitions. Pine sap—considered the lifeblood of the forest—is offered at sacred groves, symbolizing gratitude and the promise of renewal. Meditative Walks in Pine Forests: Practitioners undertake silent journeys through ancient pinewood, attuning themselves to the wisdom of the trees and the rhythms of the land. These walks serve as acts of devotion, reflection, and spiritual cleansing. Storytelling Beneath Sacred Trees: Elders and initiates gather beneath the oldest trees to share myths, personal revelations, and ancestral lore. These gatherings reinforce communal bonds and keep the living memory of Allornon alive. Ritual Blending with Monseccian and Odirinist Traditions: Engrenist ceremonies often intertwine with neighboring faiths, incorporating Monseccian spirit invocations or Odirinist ancestral rites. This syncretism reflects the adaptive, enduring nature of Engrenism and its respect for the wider tapestry of belief. Días festivos asociados: 1. Ritual dances and music fill the forests. 5. The Night of Whispers (Celestial Alignment) Held during a significant cosmic event (e.g., solstice, full moon, meteor shower). Engrenists gather for meditative walks and silent vigils, seeking dreams and guidance from Allornon and the stars. 6. The Songkeeper’s Day (Oral Tradition Honoring) A day dedicated to the elders and storytellers who preserve the Song of Pines. Communal gatherings feature performances, recitations, and the passing of new verses into the living scripture. 7.
